Stephanie Sands died of leukemia in 2001. Her young son Ewan was being raised by her father Floyd Sands until his death of brain cancer in May 2009. Floyd Sands has been a powerful voice about the need for improvements in disease cluster response. Floyd was President of Families In Search of Truth (FIST) and a founder of The National Disease Clusters Alliance.
